A YOUNG boy has been fined for driving an e-scooter without insurance in Royal Wootton Bassett.
Plainly clothed officers stopped a young boy who has been persistently driving an e-scooter dangerously around the streets of Royal Wootton Bassett on Monday, August 21.
The boy was reported for the offence of driving without insurance and the e-scooter was seized.
He will now face a monetary fine and penalty points on any potential driving license he may hold in the future.
It is legal to use a e-scooter on private land with the permission of the land owner.
However it is illegal to use them on pavements, other pedestrian-only areas, cycle lanes, bridleways and restricted byways.
E-scooters can only be used on public roads lawfully if they meet a number of different requirements.
These include insurance, conformity with technical standards and standards of use, payment of vehicle tax, licensing and registration, driver testing and licensing, and the use of relevant safety equipment.
