TRAFFIC is backed up on the A419 as visitors to the Royal International Air Show cause congestion.
Tens of thousands of people have made their way to the third day of RIAT 2023, at RAF Fairford, on Sunday morning (July 16).
This has caused delays on the A419 north of Swindon, with the AA reporting that traffic is currently backed up from Cricklade to Blunsdon, on the outskirts of the town.
There are also currently major delays on the A417, with the area around Poulton particularly affected.
Smaller roads around Fairford are also feeling the brunt of the traffic on Sunday morning.
Routes through Marston Meysey, Meysey Hampton, Kempsford, Castle Eaton and Whelford have been described as “packed.”

Earlier this week National Highways warned that traffic volumes would be high on both the A419 and A417.
Kathryn Wiltshire, South West network planner for the agency, said: “The network is likely to see higher traffic volumes and the Fairford event is expected to see increased volumes on the A417 and A419, and potentially increased traffic around M4 junction 15 and M5 junction 11A.”
