RESIDENTS at a care home were joined by some farmyard friends during the launch of a new business.
Mill House care home, situated in Sheep Street, Chipping Campden hosted the launch of The Good Day Farm On Tour - a local company that visits care homes and schools with farm animals, in a bid to boost education and wellbeing.
In conjunction with the first day of Care Home Open Week, an initiative that connects communities and delivers a positive impact in the social care sector, the residents and team at Mill House were joined by pigs, goats, ducks, rabbits, chickens and sheep.
Laura Niblett and Emily Withers, owners of the Good Day Farm On Tour, said: “At the Good Day Farm, we are passionate about sharing the joy of our animals with others.
"Whether you're one or 100 you should always have the opportunity to benefit from the therapy they bring, we recognise that many people can't go to farms, so we are here to bring the farm to the community.
"We absolutely loved the time at Mill House, seeing the residents faces light up just watching the animals made it all worth it.
"The bonus of having a pig and a goat walk through the home able to visit those who couldn't leave their rooms was really special, it certainly made our day!”
Louise Voss, wellbeing lead at Mill House, said: “What is wonderful about this business is that they bring animals who can visit residents who are to ill to leave their rooms, so if someone is having a bad day or feeling unwell what better way to cheer them up than a pig popping in to say hello.
"We are delighted that Good Day Farm used us to host their opening event, our residents had a wonderful time.
"We wanted to bring a whole new experience to Mill House, many of our residents grew up as part of the local farming community so this event brought back some cherished memories.”
