A NEW bar champion was crowned after at an annual cocktail competition in one of Cirencester's most popular hotels.
Four cocktail connoisseurs showed off their mixology skills at Ingleside Hotel in Cirencester on Monday, June 19, but only one was victorious.
Luis Paladines, bar manager at Tierra and Mar tapas restaurant, snatched the title from last year's winner Ryan Walters of Ingleside Hotel and Téatro Restaurant.
His winning L.P Sunrise cocktail was made from a blend of a homemade syrup of chilli and citrus, guava juice, drops of bitters, amoretto, white rum and fresh mint.
Other competitors included Alex O’Hara of Sam and Jak and newcomer George Tomblin of Cirencester Park Polo Brasserie.
The cocktails were judged by Drew Paterson from Wood Brothers Distillery, hairdresser Darryl Greenaway from DG Haus salon and hospitality PR consultant Jono Rooke.
Drew said: “Luis cocktail was delicious, in fact, they all were but this one just pipped it.
"We hope to get asked to judge next year's competition!”
Winner Luis said: “I have called it the L.P Sunrise and it will go onto the menu at the restaurant."
