AN ACTOR playing King Charles I has announced that he will be returning to the area this weekend to reflect on a significant historical event.
The 17th century monarch bought to life by Daniel Williams plans to stay at the White Hart Royal Hotel in Moreton-in-Marsh on Saturday, June 17.
The 49-year-old actor, from Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands, has visited many places associated with King Charles I including Carisbrooke Castle and Raglan Castle.
Daniel is returning to the town to because this week marks the anniversary of the Battle of Naseby during the English Civil War.
The real King Charles I stayed at the hotel the night before his battle with Sir Thomas Fairfax captain-general of Parliament's New Model Army.
Daniel said: "The White Hart Royal Hotel is truly an amazing historical building, full of amazing History and wonderful staff too!
"On display is the King's unpaid bill for his stay in 1645 written on vellum.
"He undoubtedly had other things on his mind with the next fateful day that came."
