A HISTORIC event took place in Malmesbury over the weekend.
The 9th Supply Regiment RLC, from The Royal Logistic Corps, was bestowed Freedom of the Town of Malmesbury.
They marched through the town with drums beating, bands playing and banners flying on Saturday, May 20.
The Freedom of the Town is a significant honour, demonstrating trust, loyalty, and a sense of community between a town and an individual.
It can bestowed by a town or parish council upon a valued member of the community, a visiting celebrity or dignitary or a military group.
The 9th Regiment departed from Bremilham Rise at 10am, along the parade route of Bristol Street, Abbey Row and the High Street and arrived at the Cross Hayes car park at 10.15am.
The car park was turned into a parade square and army band base where a formal presentation of medals and inspection of the troops took place.
This was followed by a closing address, with a prayer reading by Rev. Oliver Ross and a speech by Malmesbury Mayor Gavin Grant.
