Just a week before one of the area's most splendid building is opened again after refurbishment, the man who oversaw the project has offered a sneak peak inside.
Lydiard Park Hotel and Conference Centre, a Grade I-listed mansion, has had a £2.6m facelift and its grand re-opening takes place next week.
Ahead of that, Councillor Matty Courtliff, Conservative councillor for Lydiard and Freshbrook and until recently the cabinet member with responsibility for the house and grounds, has shared some pictures showing how it looks now.
They show bedrooms with modern carpets and wallcoverings and very smart bathrooms with stone tiling.
Coun Courtliff said: "Under the Conservatives, we invested more than £10 million in Lydiard House and the 260 acres of parkland, and we ringfenced car parking charges to provide a long-term source of funding for annual improvements.
“The estate has gone from strength to strength every year. Last year we agreed £2.6m of improvements to take the House to the next level, and my photos provide a sneak peek for the general public.
“The opening of the hotel and bar has been a year of hard work, and I am very proud that we are close to Lydiard being the premier venue to eat, drink and celebrate.
"I would encourage anyone thinking of having a wedding to talk to the team, and see what we can do so you have an amazing experience.
“I hope the Labour administration will match the dedication of the Conservatives to improving our country parks."
