A POPULAR folk rock tribute act has announced a one-off performance in Cirencester this summer.
The highly commended Simon and Garfunkel tribute duo are ready to slip and slide into The Sundial Theatre in Cirencester this June.
Adam Ellis and Ben Bowden call themselves The Sounds of Simon and will be performing their new show Old Friends Together and Apart on June 17.
Ben recently featured on BBC’s The One Show performing as Paul Simon and spoke about Paul’s visit to England in 1965 when the famous Homeward Bound tune was written.
The double act are now in their 15th year of touring and have replicated the award-winning harmonies of the duo across the UK, as well as the much-publicised friction between the two singers.
This two hour show will cover all the hits released by Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel over the course of a 30 year period.
Starting with The Sound of Silence, released in 1965, and playing through to Simon’s experiments with world music from Graceland and beyond, the show aims to chart Simon’s development as a songwriter.
Ben and Adam have been described by some music writers as "the world’s best Simon and Garfunkel tribute" and their full band show as "a musical feast for anyone who loves the songs of Paul Simon".
They recently released their new live album, American Tunes and Adam enjoys the challenge of playing these songs.
Adam said: “It’s great to take a songwriter as brilliant as Paul Simon and then track his development over 30 years.
"The evening will show how a songwriter practices and develops his craft.”
The show is accompanied by archive footage of Simon and Garfunkel, allowing the stars to tell their own story.
This is the band’s debut in Cirencester.
Ben said: “It’s great to come new places and make old friends.”
Tickets are £17.50 and are available from the box office on 01285 654228 or on online on www.sundial-theatre.co.uk
