The Tetbury Town Council plans for the coronation celebration will follow the guidelines set by the pageant master in celebration of the forthcoming coronation of King Charles III.

Buckingham Palace are conscious that the coronation will take place last year after the Queen’s platinum Jubilee other therefore anxious to insure that the events planned for May 2023 have a markedly different look to those of June 2022.

As such they have requested no beacon ceremony.

The Council have used the Coronation website to help them with plans for the weekend. However the H&R committee agreed to purchase some special unique celebratory mugs for all pupils at St Mary’s School.

On Saturday, the 4th of May the Good Shed Art Centre intends to show the Coronation on the big screen.

On Sunday, May 7 As no Main Street closures are possible due to Badminton Event, this also would include unfortunately car park closures.

However a big thanks must go to Tetbury Cricket Club who will be holding a BIG LUNCH on the recreation ground and all are invited.

On Monday, the 8th of May there will be a community litter pick in association with Greening Tetbury for the big help out, the council would like everyone to do a little pig in the streets and roads, litter picking equipment will be available at the town council offices, there will also be large beans available for rubbish to be placed in at the rear of the town council offices.

They then will invite all volunteers to meet at the picnic area of the goods shed for a plastic free picnic, please bring your own drinks bottles/containers on your own picnic.

The Mayor and Deputy Mayor will be hosting drinks for volunteers, again all are welcome. The picnic and drinks will take place from 12:30pm until 3:00 pm.

There will also be a special book available for people to sign and give their messages of congratulations available in the council offices.

The bunting will be going up before the start of May. And of course there will be many many many street parties going on to celebrate in the town.

Unfortunately the lack of a major party or event has disappointed many of the Towns people as we are used to celebrating our royal neighbours events whether it be weddings or special anniversaries our town has normally celebrated magnificently and with style.
