AN ACTOR playing King Charles I will recreate some of the former monarch's most infamous visits to Cotswolds this Friday.

The 17th century monarch bought to life by Daniel Williams will first pay a visit to the White Hart Royal Hotel in Moreton in Marsh on Friday, March 25.

Daniel said: "King Charles I stayed at the inn following the battle of Marston Moor 2nd July 1644.

"This is the first time he has been back since, though a plaque displayed within the entrance lobby commemorates his stay with a copy of his unpaid bill!"

The 49-year-old actor, from Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands, has visited many places associated with King Charles I including Carisbrooke Castle and Raglan Castle.

He is currently writing a book on his five year long journey of walking in the footsteps of the King.

Daniel has written a chapter on his previous experience of staying in Stow-on-the-Wold during 2018 when he first started recreating the King.

After stopping off in Moreton in Marsh he will travel to Stow on the Wold and dine at the King's Arms, another place where King Charles stayed in 1645 before the battle of Naseby.

The main reason for Daniel is coming to Stow on the Wold is for special event taking place from 7pm at St Edward's Hall.

A talk called  'Finding the Battle of Stow 1646' will take place in the hall raising funds for the Battlefields Trust, a volunteer run charity dedicated to the protection, promotion and interpretation of Britain's battlefields.

Simon Marsh, an expert from the trust, will lead the talk discussing Stow's civil war history and about the archaeological survey the trust has been conducting since 2015.
