TWO members of staff from a nursing home in the North Cotswolds have been shortlisted for the final of The Great British Care Awards final.
Hospitality manager Paul Dixon and nurse Dianne Webb from Mill House in Chipping Campden will represent Aria Care at the national awards ceremony on March 17.
The Great British Care Awards are a series of regional events throughout the UK and are a celebration of excellence across the care sector.
The purpose of the awards are to pay tribute to individuals who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their field of work.
There are 21 awards categories available for nomination, which represent all areas of the social care sector, whether it be older people or specialist services, residential or home care.
This year's national final will be hosted by Peter Andre.
Dianne has been chosen as a finalist in the 'Nurse of The Year' category out of thousands of nurses in care homes in England.
Getting to this stage means that she is one of the top 10 nurses in England.
Dianne said: "When I first applied to work at Mill House, I never dreamed I would be supported and mentored to the extent that I could be shortlisted for a National Award. To win would be great but I am equally excited to meet Peter Andre who is hosting the event!"
Likewise, Paul has made it to the final in the 'Innovation in Dementia Care' category and is thrilled to be shortlisted.
He said: "I used to manage some of the most prestigious hotels in the area. I worked on the QE2 Cruise liner, I managed hotels for a Celebrity Chef."
"But I gave it all up, and took a completely different career change to get a work life balance and to make a difference to others.
"Six years ago I entered the care industry and everyday I learn something new about the elderly and dementia care.
"To be shortlisted for such a prestigious best in the whole of England award, is genuinely humbling and testament to the investment and mentoring Aria care have given me."
