Gloucestershire Constabulary returns to TV's Channel 5 on Monday (December 12) evening.

Police: Night Shift 999 exclusively covers the Gloucestershire force as they prepare for a busy night shift responding to emergency callouts. 

The prime time show which starts at 9pm on Monday will run for eight episodes.

The fly-on-the-wall show, focussed solely on Gloucestershire Constabulary, covers officers and staff from a range of departments responding to incidents through the night, including burglaries, thefts and violence.

Road-related offences, such as drink and drug driving, also feature, alongside challenges faced on the night-time economy.

While the county is one of the safest in the country, the constabulary hopes residents will sleep even more soundly knowing how officers are striving to keep them safe from harm around the clock.

External communications manager Chris Jackson said: "Each episode in the first series was watched by more than a million people and that represents a huge opportunity for us to demonstrate the sort of hard work that has traditionally been very hard to get across.

"The series highlights the level of dedication, commitment and skill there is across the Force in responding to a wide array of incidents.

"Officers are shown having to make rapid risk assessments and taking quick, decisive action in many of the cases but I think people will also be pleased to see the softer skills on display and the more human side of our officers.

"I hope the series will help our communities understand more about the difficulties faced by our staff and perhaps encourage more people with the right skills to consider applying to join us."
