Lottoland
The US Powerball is one of the biggest and most popular lotteries around the world. It serves up record sums, including huge jackpots, on a relatively regular basis. The next time the US Powerball jackpot is won, it could be around $600 million - just under or more. The main prize has had plenty of rollovers since August 2022, hence its hefty size.
The US Powerball is relatively unique in its frequency, too. Unlike other global draws which take place once or twice a week, the US Powerball draw happens three times per week.
On Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, those who enter have an opportunity at the start, in the middle and toward the end of any given week to win.
You can bet on Powerball at Lottoland from the United Kingdom or many other places across the globe. Although the prizes are in dollars, winnings are paid out in local currencies such as the pound.
The odds of winning the US Powerball jackpot are very high at approximately one in 292 million, but not as high as a few other lotteries such as the MegaMillions at about one in 302 million and Italy's SuperEnalotto at around one in 622 million.
And don't forget that it's not all about the jackpot. Many people, who don't know already, might be interested to learn that there are big sums up for grabs in tiers under the jackpot. These can be quite high at times.
With the US Powerball, the odds of winning any prize - no matter how small - are about one in 25. Those odds are not as strong as, say, the Spanish Lotto's one in 10 or Austrian Lotto's one in 12 in the same category, but certainly better than the Irish Lotto's one in 29 or German Lotto's one in 31.
It's well worth noting some of the biggest jackpots ever in the US Powerball. In October 2016, the main prize of $656 million was won. It was shared among two players, whose lump sum payouts totally around R200 million each.
How people go about selecting their US Powerball numbers is always an interesting study in choice. There are options to pick the digits manually or have them automatically generated. Those who opt for the former can do so randomly, but many base their numerical selections around birthdays, anniversaries and other milestones in one’s life and the lives of others.
And they might mix in some so-called hot and cold numbers as well. These are digits that have been drawn often in the past or not a lot more recently. There is no exact science and there is definitely no guarantee, but many people who play the lottery like to have options and suggestions available to them based on many different factors.
Either way, it’s always interesting to see how the numbers panned out and, with the US Powerball, the frequency of this can weigh in at three times per week depending on the number of times one entered the lottery in that seven-day period.
