The first 451 Cotswold Comic-Con certainly proved to be a runaway success, to the degree that vendors and visitors already clamouring for the next one.
The vendors were diverse and everything you could wish for that was comic related ranging from collectible comics even the first appearances of Spider-Man, which amazed some of the visitors who googled the rare comic finding it valued at £34,000-£40,000 some of the enthusiasts that they had never been to a convention with such a wide range of comics on the sale.
But it wasn't only the enthusiastic had a great day as cosplayers and families arrived to take part in the cosplay catwalk, which was judged by the Deputy Mayor Cillr Ann Pearce and lions club members Saxon and Alan Greenway, Ann who have not been very well due to her disability flaring up made a determined effort to come down to the event where she sat at the table as the cosplayers walked past and talked to her and the other judges, the sheer enjoyment came through what ever the age of the cosplayer one young lady had travelled from Wolverhampton to take part.
Many of the people who had travelled enjoyed the visit to Tetbury and took time to look round the town as well.
One local young man arrived two hours earlier to catch sight of the star of the day the Dalek who took a day off of exterminating people to have fun with all ages.
Paul Cornell the local author also met with fans and other professionals.Cllr Ann Pearce said I was so pleased to have been able to come and meet so many enthusiastic people in their costumes and all the children who took part also.
A hard judging session was supported by Saxon and Alan Greenway. Well done to Kevin for his commitment to get this event up and running Saxon Greenway Added.
It was a really enjoyable event, the costumes were amazing and the children were all so sweet. After the event Richard Warrington,Chair of TRLRT said to Kevin: "All the trustees who attended your 451 Comic.con event agreed it was really interesting and a great success.
"I will inform our Events Team that the Goods Shed would be very happy to host an annual event if you are keen to establish a regular Comic.con. A very successful day."
Kevin said this always has the feel of a field of dreams, as what is amazing is the whole event has been put on at zero cost with free entry free stalls For vendors prizes donated by local businesses, the only financial cost was the insurance.
Even the venue was free I will thank all the businesses, and all the people who supported this initiative in next week's paper. Thank you everyone and the 451 Comic-Con will be back!
