With the staycation boom expected to remain a fixture for the remainder of 2022 and beyond, holiday let owners in the Cotswolds are celebrating after a record-breaking summer when it comes to bookings and revenue.
According to bookings data from Sykes Holiday Cottages, bookings to the Cotswolds jumped 22% this summer compared with 2019, with Stow-on-the-Wold, Bourton-on-the-Water and Blockley proving to be the most popular.
Furthermore, the region has seen a 7% uplift to date in bookings this autumn and winter compared to 2019.
Holiday let owners in the Cotswolds can expect to earn an estimated £36,000 for a four-bedroom property over the course of an average year, a number that is expected to jump dramatically this year thanks to the rise in bookings.
In terms of what features people want from a holiday let, owners in the region can expect to make £5,000 more if they have a hot tub on site, and those who offer shorter breaks can increase income by an average of £2,000 each year.
Pet-friendly properties could benefit from an additional £2,000 each year, while good WiFi, a garden, an open fire, and coastal location have also been cited as factors which boost earnings.
To help prospective owners weigh up how much they could make from holiday letting, Sykes Holiday Cottages has launched a new income calculator which estimates average yearly earnings based on region and key property features.
