Following TinkCo’s sell out run of Calendar Girls the Musical, Award Winning Theatre Company TinkCo are returning to The Barn Theatre this month to perform the classic musical, Funny Girl.
Funny Girl is the semi-biographical story of the life and career of Broadway star, film actress and comedian, Fanny Brice and features her stormy relationship with entrepreneur and gambler Nick Arnstein.
Barbara Streisand starred in the original Broadway production which received eight nominations and appeared in the film with Omar Sharif for which she won an Academy Award for Best Actress. The show has great music including the classics ‘People’ and ‘Don’t Rain on My Parade’.
TinkCo have got their own award-winning actress playing the lead role of Fanny. Grace Hawker, who lives in Cirencester, won a Rose Bowl Award for Best Actress in She Loves Me at the Cotswold Playhouse. The Rose Bowl Awards are the South West’s Amateur Theatre’s version of the Oscars!
Grace said of Funny Girl “It’s still a bit surreal, but I love every second. To quote the show "nervous, happy, scared, excited - you name it, I am it!"
Alongside Grace is a wonderful cast of TinkCo members from Swindon and Cirencester. They have been rehearsing weekly to bring song and dance to the stage. Director Kate Northcott said “I have the most amazing, hardworking cast with so much talent and enthusiasm, every rehearsal has been such a pleasure. We’ve laughed with each other every single week. On top of this, I have never seen Grace in a role like this and she amazes me every week”.
