Members of the community pulled togther to tackle a fire that broke out near Malmesbury Abbey last night (June 3).
The fire started in the storage bins outside the historic building just before 9.15pm.
Staff from The Birdcage and Old Bell Hotel have been praised for their work, coming out with fire extinguishers while residents assisted with buckets of water.
As a result, the blaze was put out before firefighters arrived on the scene.
Ben Thornbury, who was among those to help, said he had never seen so many people work together.
"Without all of them it could have been a very different situation and much worse," he said.
