A main road through the Cotswolds is set to close for resurfacing.
The A40 London Road, which runs from Cheltenham to Oxford, will be shut between the Hampnett and Compton Abdale junctions from Friday, May 13 to Saturday, May 28.
The closure will be in place from 7pm to 7am every weekday. The road will be open during weekends with the exception of the night of Saturday, May 28.
Gloucestershire County Council's highways crews will complete resurfacing works along the 11,500 square metres stretch of road with 2,888 tonnes of material.
Cllr Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways, said: “We have scheduled this popular route for resurfacing as part of our further £100m investment in Gloucestershire’s roads over the next four years.
"These vital improvements will create a smooth and pothole free journey for all road users.
"As this is a busy route, we’re making the improvements at night time so that any disruption can be kept to a minimum.
"I’d like to thank local residents and road users for their patience.”
Cllr Paul Hodgkinson, county councillor for Bourton-on-the-Water and Northleach, said: “I’m pleased to see this key road resurfaced and that it is being done overnight to try and minimise the inconvenience.
"I look forward to the work being completed and seeing the positive impact for local people, businesses and commuters.
"I’d also like to thank the local community and road users for their patience while this essential work is carried out.”
