Tripadvisor has announced its annual Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best Awards for Hotels and a Bourton-on-the-Water B&B has placed more than once this year.
The 2022 Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best Awards are based on the quality and quantity of traveller reviews and ratings posted on Tripadvisor over the 12-month period from January 1 to December 31, 2021.
The awards have been split across 11 subcategories and Coombe House in Bourton-on-the-Water has ranked third in the UK and Europe and came out as seventh in the world.
Three new subcategories were added this year: Out of the Ordinary, Hotels on the Water and Mountain Lodges & Resorts.
“We know that travel is not a one-size-fits-all approach, so the Travellers’ Choice Awards have you covered–no matter what type of trip you’re planning,” said Kanika Soni, Chief Commercial Officer, Tripadvisor.
Soni added: “Winners for 2022 span six continents and 90 countries, ranging from cave hotels to overwater bungalows to castles and even family-owned B&Bs. Browse through these winners for a dose of wanderlust along with recommendations from the best guides in the world: other travellers.”
Top performers in the UK include Ivybank Lodge in Blairgowrie sits at 11th place in the world, third in Europe and best in the UK in the Small Stays category.
It also features in the Luxury Hotels category where it achieved second place in the UK and 13th in Europe.
Torquay’s Trelawney Hotel made 20th place in the world’s Small Hotels category and it took the eighth spot in Europe and second place in the UK.
Another Torquay hotel, Haytor Hotel, achieved 18th place in the world, seventh place in Europe and took the top spot in the UK in the Most Romantic Hotels category.
It also claimed sixth place in the UK’s Small Stays category.
