The world's biggest plane flew over Gloucestershire yesterday before touching down at RAF Brize Norton.
Antonov An-225 Mriya is the heaviest aircraft ever built, with a maximum takeoff weight of 640 tonnes. It also has the largest wingspan of any aircraft in operational service.
The six-engine aircraft's power was plain to see at Brize Norton yesterday, blowing over a fence as it departed.
The cargo plane was developed in the 1980s, originally to airlift parts for the Soviet Space Program.
More recently it has participated in the COVID-19 pandemic relief effort, delivering medical supplies around the world.
