WITHIN a short pleasant drive from the Stroud, Cirencester and Dursley area lies the quintessentially English village of Elmley Castle near Pershore.
Dubbed one of the UK's prettiest villages, it sits at the foot of Bredon Hill and features an array of scenic walks.
It's a visual treat to wander down the wide tree lined main street, where picturesque half-timbered thatched cottages sit back from the road.
But now there's another reason to visit - fabulous food - as it now boasts one of the country's best eateries.
The Queen Elizabeth Inn in Main Street was this week named one of the best in the country by the Good Food Awards 2021.
A community run pub since December 2014, it is known for its traditional British cuisine, which is freshly prepared using largely locally sourced ingredients.
The bar serves a range of real ales and ciders.
There is also the fabulous Elmley Castle picnic spot, situated alongside a babbling brook and wildlife-rich wood.
Keen photographer Sue Lawson-Baigent recently had a wonderful day out there and took these fabulous shots of the cottages. which she posted on the Gloucestershire Camera Club Facebook page.
