Live music events and the sale of alcohol at a new glamping site in Cirencester has been given the go-ahead.

The Bathurst Park Estate says it is allowing a new glamping site to be set up deep within Cirencester Park which will allow people to enjoy the beauty of the parkland and woods during their stay.

As part of these plans, organisers BD Events applied to Cotswold District Council for a new premises licence to allow them to also put on plays, films, recorded music and dance performances at the site.

These activities will be allowed to go ahead any day of the week from 8am to 11pm while late night refreshment will be allowed from 11pm to midnight.

Alcohol can now also be sold for consumption on and off the premises from 11am to 11pm, Monday to Sunday.

BD Events Limited general manager Ben Childs said the proposals were for a family luxury camping resort.

He said their ethos was to provide an entertaining and relaxing facility with a restaurant and bars and glamping pods for overnight stays.

He also explained that the licence was to serve alcohol and provide entertainment up to 11pm but previous experience had shown that most guests were in bed before then.

The company also had a policy of “quiet from 9pm” on the campsites to avoid guests being disturbed and there was low footfall across the site during the evening.

However, Daglingworth Parish Council objected to the proposals and raised concerns over the increased noise, traffic and numbers of people the event would create.

The licensing sub-committee agreed to grant the licence subject to conditions.

These included that all live and record music both indoors and outdoors shall cease promptly at 11pm.

And a noise management plan will be submitted six weeks prior to the event that would need approval by the council.

A full site management team must also be in place 24 hours a day while the site is open to the public.

And a full child safeguarding and alcohol management policy must be in place.
