TETBURY Mayor Ann Pearce last week met with Maisie Bray and presented her with a special certificate and a box of chocolates as a thank you for her amazing fundraising, writes Kevin Painter.
Maisie, aged 12, is currently in Year 7 at Sir William Romney's School in Tetbury.
She has always collected for a charity when its her birthday.
Her choice for Dementia UK was in memory of her Great Grandmothers Doris Tanner and Irene Bray who have both sadly passed away.
Her parents, Nigel & Georgina Hodges and Justin & Gemma Bray said: "We can not express how proud we all are of Maisie.
"Maisie loves animals and has always focused her fundraising on this, but when she heard about the time for tea fundraiser in aid of Dementia UK that really hit home.
"We would like to say a massive thanks to Bexs Baking for the donation of brownies, Charmaine West for the cake donations, and all her family and friends who turned up despite the wind and rain to support her.
"We are extremely proud parents, as is the whole family.''
Tetbury mayor Ann Pearce added: ''I was very pleased to present a certificate of achievement to Maisie for her fundraising on behalf of the town council."
The mayor is herself a Dementia Friend and would like to encourage local businesses to sign up to the next Dementia Friends course being run by Libby Miles of Upton Mill Care Home, who is qualified to run courses on behalf of the Alzeihmers Society.
National Dementia Awareness Week commences on May 17.
We would very much like to work towards our town and the wider community becoming Dementia Friendly.
The date of the course is May 18, at 3.30pm.
If you would like to apply for a link then please email libby.miles@porthaven.co.uk.
This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone in business including in particular hairdressers and barber shops to understand a little bit more about the needs of customers with Dementia.
However I think the whole town is proud of young Maisie and what she has has achieved and is a real inspiration, thank you.
