The Ebrington Arms in Chipping Campden has been handed a prestigious award for the quality of its food.

The annual Sawday’s Pub Awards, which have been run in partnership with The Telegraph to find the nation’s best-loved pubs, have been announced with The Ebrington Arms being awarded the title of Best Pub for Food.

Claire Alexander, co-owner of The Ebrington Arms, said; “We’re over the moon to win the best food award, especially as we were chosen over 500 other pubs. We’ve held 2 AA Rosettes for over a decade but this is a really special award from the guys at Sawday’s.

"Huge respect to our head chef, Adam Brown and our whole team. In fact huge respect to all in hospitality right now, we’re taking it as a positive sign that British pubs are fighting back in 2020.”

The awards entry for The Ebrington Arms, written by the Sawday’s team, says: "This gorgeous old stone pub with a weathered wooden bar is leading the charge for sustainable, superb food from within its historic walls.

"The sourcing has earnt landlords Claire and Jim a rare 3-star rating from The Soil Association, meaning they always use 50-70% organic ingredients. The menu they form is a perfect blend of creativity and simplicity, with pub classics and inventive dishes all serving as a showcase for the incredible local produce."

Mike Bevens, managing director of Sawday’s, said: “This year, more than ever, we’ve seen pubs step up as pillars of their community, so it’s an absolute pleasure to recognise the best of the best in our annual Pub Awards.

"Deciding on our winners was as challenging as ever, so we welcomed The Telegraph’s readers input into our Pub of the Year and have an extremely worthy list of places taking awards this year.”
