Tetbury news by Kevin Painter
Here is the official news on behalf of Tetbury Town Council from the Mayor Cllr Nikki Ind.
She stated. “At Easter, I as mayor of Tetbury sent an open letter to the community, to thank residents for their continued support of each other during this unprecedented time.
This community effort has been a fine example of how Tetbury pulls together at times of crisis.
From the creation of the Tetbury Covid-19 Mutual Support Group, Tetbury Lions Club coordinating leaflets for all houses and our Royal Mail delivery office delivering these, to Tetbury Town Council appointing Councillor Martin Lea as the lead councillor for the crisis.
Then there are a number of local businesses who have adapted to provide services to our community, particularly The Priory Inn - takeaway meals and fresh food delivery service, Calcot Manor - free meal delivery service and The Grocer at Church Street, who has sourced goods in short supply, to mention a few.”
Nikki also wanted to remind the community of the procedure to follow should you know of any residents who require community support.
Please ask them in the first instance to contact the Gloucestershire County Council Community Hub, this ensures that the needs of the resident are captured and they are then allocated to the appropriate team/service locally.
The link and phone number for this service are detailed here: https://www.gloucestershire.gov.uk.
You can telephone 01452 583519.

she added: ‘’At this time Tetbury Town Council continues to work, our office team are all working from home and you will have seen the grounds team out and about working, within Social Distancing guidelines.
Should you have any queries at all during working hours, please call our normal number and your call will be answered 01666 504670.’’

STEPHEN Holley, Tetbury Town Clerk, would like to announce that the Annual Town Meeting for 2020 has been postponed in view of Government advice that public meetings should not be held during the current Coronoavirus pandemic.
It will be arranged when we receive advice that it is safe to do so.
CLLR Peter Coleman is obviously very sad that the VE celebrations have been cancelled due to the current crisis however in true British spirit there will be some way of celebrating this whether it be a combined celebrations being moved to a VE & VJ Day Celebration, as the national media has suggested.
We have been made aware that the residents on the Miller Highfield Housing development are decorating their houses in red, white and blue, perhaps we could duplicate this throughout the town and perhaps even at a certain time for people to come out and cheer similar to the supporting the NHS.
If you have any other ideas on what we can possibly do please contact Peter by email petercoleman@tetbury.gov.uk or ring 07771 550685.
