Down Ampney community news by Melanie Fouracre
TEDDY Bears in windows have now been joined by a Gruffalo, an owl by its nest and other creatures in Scrubbs Copse.
All at just the right height to be seen by small children.
VILLAGERS may also notice that one of the ewes currently in the field behind Scrubbs Copse, which borders Church Lane and Hospital Road, now has a fetching rainbow painted on her fleece along with the letters NHS.
Another sight to look out for on your daily hour’s exercise.
RESIDENTS of Down Ampney, Ampney Crucis, Ampney St Peter, Ampney St Mary, Poulton and Harnhill are now able to benefit from a fruit, veg, dairy produce and meat box scheme that The Crown of Crucis at Ampney Crucis are now offering in conjunction with local suppliers like Butts Farm and Jesse Smiths amongst others.
Two sizes of box (both very generously filled) are available £30 for 2 people, £60 for 4 people.
Orders are received on a first come, first served basis between 9am and 2pm on a Monday and will be ready for collection at a pre-arranged time on a Wednesday.
A ‘weekend’ box is also available for order on a Thursday before 2pm for collection Saturday morning between 9am and 2pm.
The scheme has been set up on a not for profit basis and is being provided on a voluntary basis by staff at The Crown of Crucis.
Anyone wishing to place an order, will need to ring or email on either a Monday or a Thursday as indicated above and be able to pay over the phone in advance.
