Pupils at Chesterton Primary School took part in a ‘Who’s Your Potato Competition’ for World Book Day.
The children were challenged to decorate a potato as their favourite book character.
A spokesman for the school said: “The day was about books and we hope this competition encourages the children to focus more on books and their favourite characters rather than on buying the best costume.
“The winners will go with our head teacher, Mrs Venner, to Octavia’s Bookshop in Cirencester where they will spend time choosing their own book, they will have a hot chocolate and cake as a little treat too.”
The competition was said to be a huge success, with the school looking to run it again next year.
Oscar, one of the winners said: “I made it with Mummy and daddy.
“I chose to do the BFG because it was funny.”
Another pupil said: “This was so much fun, I would really like to do it again next year!”
