Bourton Rovers FC 3 v 0 Bishop Cleeve Dev
BOURTON followed up last week's league cup victory with a well-earned win at home to Bishop Cleeve Dev on Saturday. Rovers booked their place in the quarter finals and will wait to see if they get another home tie.
Rovers started the game on the front foot and created a number of good chances.
Both midfields worked hard to get a hold of the game and Rovers did this well and were rewarded in the 22nd minute when Adam Webley was put through on goal only to be brought down by a Cleeve defender. Webley dusted himself down and fired the penalty home.
Rovers didn’t have to wait long for their second goal as Josh Fielding latched onto another through ball and calmly placed it past the rushing goalkeeper.
Cleeve dominated the early exchanges of the second half and were unlucky not to score. Rovers dug in and were awarded another penalty from shirt pulling at a corner, this time the penalty was put away by Craig Gilson.
Rovers look forward to their first County Cup quarter final in a number of years.
Manager Scott Powles was pleased with his team's performance and ability to handle pressure during tight spells of the game.
Powles said he is looking forward to getting back into league action next Saturday away to Shrivenham Res. Shrivenham will be a tough game and one Bourton needs to be fully prepared for.
