A MAN has been airlifted to hospital after falling from a bridge over the railway line at Cowcombe Hill, Chalford.
Police were called to the scene at 2.25pm today after receiving information that a man was lying on the tracks beneath the bridge.
Emergency services, including the county air ambulance, treated the man at the scene for what are understood to be serious leg injuries.
A spokesman for Gloucestershire police said: "Police were called to the railway line at Cowcombe Hill, Chalford, to investigate a report that a person had been struck by a train in that location.
"Emergency services attending the scene found an injured man lying on the tracks beneath the bridge at the bottom of Cowcombe Hill.
"It is believed the man fell from the bridge on to the line. He is not believed to have been hit by a train."
British Transport Police are investigating the incident.
