THE Standard's Charlie Griffin has made her debut for the county's senior ladies' football team.
Our advertising sales executive, who plays for Tetbury Town Ladies, represented Gloucestershire against Cornwall away at Liskeard.
Gloucestershire lost 4-1 but the right-sided midfielder made an impression after coming on as a second-half substitute when the score was already 3-1.
Charlie, 20, originally from Bourton-on-the-Water but a Tetbury resident for the past seven years, became interested in football by playing with brother Liam as a child.
She played for a Cirencester Town five-a-side youth team and represented Gloucestershire under-13s before joining Tetbury six years ago.
The Manchester United supporter, who wears the same number seven shirt as her hero David Beckham, was selected for Gloucestershire's senior team after Tetbury won the county ladies division two title.
She thanked Tetbury manager Cindy Beale and club captain, Julia Caton, for proposing her for selection.
Charlie said: "It was brilliant. It was a really high standard of football, compared to what I was playing before.
"I found it quite daunting but I had to prove myself and go out there and do the best I could."
She hopes to be in Gloucestershire's squad next season.
