EMBERS from a bonfire set alight to a barn at a farm in Quenington, near Fairford, yesterday afternoon.
Four fire crews from Gloucestershire, as well as a water tanker from Oxfordshire, battled the blaze at Donkey Well Farm, on the Fairford Road, for five hours.
Police also attended the scene, while one farm worker received hospital treatment for a minor burn.
The fire started at 2pm. Three jets and 15 sets of breathing apparatus were used.
Two corn driers and up to 50 tonnes of hay were severely damaged according to the fire service, although farmer Tim Peachey played down the incident saying only six or so tonnes were destroyed.
He said: "We had a small fire and the wind turned and blew it towards the barn. Sparks flew across and caught some bales. We are waiting to hear from the insurance company to know the cost of the damage."
