WORKERS at North Wiltshire District Council are being encouraged to spill the beans on their colleagues and superiors if they suspect incompetitence or malpractice.
The council's Standards Committee is meeting next week to approve a Whistle Blowing Policy drawn up to enable staff to raise concerns about unlawful conduct, fraud and corruption without fear of reprisals or reporting to outside organisations.
The policy document also stresses that workers should not contact the press.
It is aimed at all employees of the council and says: "If you raise a concern in good faith, you will not be at risk of losing your job of suffering any form of retribution as a result."
The council has promised it will investigate all concerns raised, even matters raised anonymously.
