AN INQUEST has been opened into the death of a 64-year-old Tetbury man found dead in his flat after a small fire on March 29.
The inquest into Michael John Wingrove's death was opened by Cotswold coroner Alan Crickmore who said Mr Wingrove had been a handyman who lived in New Church Street, Tetbury.
Police attended the flat on March 29 following a small fire which had self-extinguished and discovered Mr Wingrove's body.
Coroner's officer Paul Boak said: "Third party involvement is not suspected.
"A post mortem was carried out and the cause of death was found to be aspyhixia due to smoke inhalation secondary to alcohol intoxication and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease."
The coroner adjourned the inquest to a date to be fixed.
