FABULOUS Spring weather brought a large field of runners out for the Severn Easter 10-Kilometre run.
Bourton Roadrunners were out in force to test their speed and fitness two weeks prior to the London Marathon.
Rivals, Dennis Walmsley and Mike Smith, gave battle. Walmsley headed off quickly and Smith more conservatively.
Smith swept by Walmsley at four miles and opened up a large gap. A concerted effort, by Walmsley, saw him rapidly close the gap.
However, Smith's timing proved to be perfect because he clocked 32.35 to finish seventh, two seconds clear of Walmsley who recorded 32.37 in eighth.
Alistair Lockey was first Veteran/ 40 after another superb run saw him finish just outside the top 10, in 11th place. He recorded a time of 33.32, which is close to his personal best.
Ben Coles gave a good performance for 38.23, with Tony Goodwill in 39.29 and Steve Humphries timing at 40.24.
Brian Hulcup gave a good performance for 42.54. Ali Lane, while not on form, finished first V/45 in 43.56.
Norm Lane had an excellent run for 44.31. Pauline Teague finished well in 46.34. Liz Hulcup had a storming run and was just off a personal best, with 49.28.
Jimmy Lunney closely followed her in 49.29. Lynn Hudson, Lynn Spedding and Chris Bence completed the Bourton contingent, with 51.14, 52.40 and 54 minutes respectively.
