CIRENCESTER'S Advent Market festival has grown too big and will be given a radical shake-up for 2007, the Standard can reveal.
Cirencester Chamber of Commerce chairman Jonathan Davies said this week that the event had lost its way and must get back to basics.
He told the Standard he was worried it was losing touch with the spirit of Christmas and he wants to involve the community as much as possible.
He said: "The event has grown and grown over recent years. It's grown too big for itself and moved away from its original intention and perhaps its quality has been diluted by running it through from nine in the morning to eight in the evening."
