A COTSWOLD-based quarry firm is shipping 35 tonnes of stone halfway round the world for the construction of a single house.
Farmington Natural Stone Ltd, near Northleach, received an order of its specialist Cotswold stone last month to be delievered to Melbourne, Australia.
It is being shipped in a fleet of seven containers which set off last week on a five week voyage to Australia and is expected to arrive around May 18.
The stone will be used to build a large mansion, due for completion by Christmas.
According to Farmington's customer service manager John Adler orders like this are not exceptionally rare.
He said: "We have not had an order to Australia for a long time, the last one was ten years ago, but we export all over the world including Japan, USA and most of Europe.
"I think people have got this romantic idea about the Cotswolds. People come over and visit and it has got this historical feel to it.
"The stone is a nice warm colour as well so it fits in with lots of different landscapes."
