A CIRENCESTER man has been banned from shopping in the town.
Michael Coates, 19, of Melmore Gardens, pleaded guilty to two counts of shoplifting in Cirencester at Cheltenham Magistrates' Court on Monday.
He was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £30 costs.
The day before his court appearance Coates was arrested on suspicion of a further offence, that of stealing Easter eggs worth £59.94 from a shop in Dyer Street.
Police stopped and searched him in London Road on Sunday at 5.30pm.
He is due to appear before Cheltenham magistrates again on Wednesday. In the meantime he has been banned from all retail outlets in Cirencester.
