WORK to lay a new £5million sewer network in South Cerney started again this week after wet weather delayed the work by two months.
Thames Water workers began digging on Monday and are hoping to begin laying the pipeline itself by April 16.
Thames Water spokesman Robin Markwell said: "It was so wet over the winter months it has been impossible to do any work because the ground was so sodden. Every time the workers dug a hole it filled with water.
"We will try to maintain access to resident's homes at all times although vehicular access may be restricted.
"We would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause."
He added Thames Water would be writing regularly to every household in the village to keep them updated on the developments.
Robert Franklin Way will be closed from April 23 for 15 weeks and temporary traffic lights will be installed on Broadway Lane at various points as the project progresses.
