SWINDON star Kyle Howarth is the new British Under-21 Champion.
The M&S Van Rental Robins' young gun pulled off a sensational ride to see off the previously unbeaten Robert Lambert in a tense Grand Final and claim the biggest win of his career so far.
Howarth suffered just one defeat in the qualifying heats as he was rounded by Lambert in heat five with the pair advancing straight to the final.
A dream start for Howarth in the decisive race saw him hit the front, yet after a fall for Ashley Morris he was forced to do it all again.
The Robins man was forced to do things the hard way second time around, blasting magnificently around Lambert and Stefan Nielsen to hit the front and take the chequered flag.
It was a fine win Howarth, as he finally claimed the top prize having fallen agonisingly short at the final hurdle in 2012 and 2013.
Howarth was delighted with what he described an "unbelievable night."
"It was a tough night but to get the deal done in the end was amazing," he said.
"It was a bit of a strange one and it was very dramatic in the end but it feels absolutely awesome.
"I was a bit gutted when I saw the red lights come on in the final because you know what usually happens in re-runs after you've been leading the original race but I can't complain - I'm really pumped.
"I rode here last year so I know the place well and used my knowledge to help me get the deal done.
"I'm still a bit shocked if I'm being honest, but I'm just going to enjoy the moment and take all of my confidence from this into the rest of the season."
Following his win, the 21 year old will become the first rider to be presented with the Lee Richardson Memorial Shield at the British Final in June.
