UP-AND-COMING karting ace Louis Harvey was the surprise recipient of two trophies at the respective annual presentation evenings of the Rissington and Llandow Kart clubs.
Malmesbury's Louis, 10, was only expecting to collect a fourth place trophy in the Rissington Championship but in addition he picked up the final trophy for 'Best Endeavours'.
This is a perpetual trophy given to someone the club believes has overcome great odds and continued to achieve their goals against adversity.
Louis received the award as a result of returning to take podium positions after a crash at Rissington that saw him airlifted to John Radcliffe Hospital with internal bleeding.
The Rissington crash cost him third place in the circuit's championship.
This surprise was repeated at the Llandow presentation evening which Louis attended simply to show support for the club and his friends. But he was presented with another perpetual trophy for 'The Most Improved Honda Driver' selected by the president of the club and based on performance over the entire year.
This was Louis' first season racing at the Llandow track in Wales and he rounded off the year with a second and third place in the final two rounds.
Louis' 2014 trophy list: May – Rissington Championship third place Honda; May – Llandow Championship fifth place Honda National Welsh Champs; September – Llandow Championship first place Honda; November – Llandow Championship second place Honda; December – Llandow Championship third place Honda Celtic Challenge; Rissington 2014 Championship – fourth place Honda; Rissington 2014 Championship – Best Endeavour Trophy; Llandow 2014 Championship – Most Improved Honda Driver Trophy.
Louis’ 2015 season is due to start in mid-February and he will again be flying the flag for Ideal Displays and Forces Reunited, his main equipment sponsors.
But he is hoping to attract an additional sponsor to help cover race meeting costs.
