I know I speak for many when I say he was not only a good teacher, but a good man who always gave you an opportunity through his patience and encouragement to do well.
On behalf of all of those who kicked or picked up a ball, learned to hold a bat or a racket or were encouraged to participate in athletics or any sport during those years and for many years afterwards, we owe you a great deal - Thank you Mr Appleby.
I shall be forever grateful to Mike for delivering the eulogy at the funeral of my late father, Reg Cook. Several attendees at the service commented to me privately about the superb job that Mike did on my behalf.
Mike will always have a very special place in my memories. RIP Mike.
An absolutely lovely bloke above all & an inspiration to many.
