TETBURY'S Danny Kent failed to score points for the first time in the 2015 Moto3 world championship at a rain-interrupted race in the States at the weekend.

Despite this setback Kent still leads the world standings by 56 points.

Rain hit the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the majority of the field – apart for shock winner Livio Loi from Belgium — opted for wet tyres.

But when the race was underway the track dried out quickly and chaos ensued as riders entered the pits to change bikes.

As usual, the Leopard Racing Honda rider Kent had been impressive in qualifying to earn another pole position but that advantage was lost when his team took far too long in the bike swap and he dropped 14 positions on the second lap.

The 21-year-old was then never able to regain the pace and crossed the line in 21st position.

Talking about his disappointment in the States, a clearly frustrated Kent said: “Indianapolis was a great weekend – until the race got underway.

"The tricky conditions made it really hard for us. The main problem was when we came into the pits, it took too long time to change to slick tyres.

"I entered the pits alongside Brad Binder and he was able to finish eighth.

"We lost too much time changing the wheels. This is something the team has to work on, just in case we experience a similar situation in future races.

"Yes, of course, I’m annoyed but we still have a good points lead in the championship so we just need to go to Brno (Czech Republic) now to recover some more points.

"To lose just ten points here shouldn’t be that dramatic for us.”
