DAVE BELL finished off his best ever season with another fine win in the Shakespeare County Raceway Autumn Half-Marathon at Stratford.
His time of 1:11.26 brought him in some two minutes ahead of the second-placed man and 294 finished. He can now look ahead to a winter of training before setting sights on more records next year.

Sodbury Slog 9-mile
THE main obstacle on a beautiful sunny day was the mud, courtesy of last week’s heavy rain.
With a stream to wade through, which at least got rid of some of the mud, it is a fun event but with no chance of a PB.
A solid Ciren AC team came home with some silverware. First over the line for the club was Amy Bentley (1:25.19) who was ninth lady, with Jill Hadland sixth VW35. Chris Riches nursed his knee to a fifth V60 place, while Liza Darroch was first VW60.
Results: 1, John Ashcroft (University of Bristol, Athletics and XC) 1:01.44; 153, Amy Bentley 1:25.19; 176, Jill Hadland 1:27.01; 254, Rupert Chesmore 1:31.45; 272, Paul Barron 1:32.59; 329, Chris Riches 1:36.13; 627, Liza Darroch 1:53.48. 1,037 finished.
Swindon Parkrun, 5km trails
DESPITE wet conditions Simon Campbell (18.51) pushed daughter Annabel to a buggy PB, a fourth place overall and first MV35-39. First timer 12-year-old Luke Buck (22.42) came in 59th, while mum Caroline (25.27) was 127th and first FV45-49.
There was an age-group second place for Lisa Carpenter and yet another age-group win for Barbara Thomas. David Moss, running in company, was last home for Ciren. Philip O’Hare (17.48) of Swindon Striders won and 379 finished.
Full reports next week from the Valencia Marathon where Martin Croucher set a PB and the Brecon Beacons 45-miler where Richard Hurdle, Ed Morris and Andy Hindson had a tough workout.
