MORE information has been released in the investigation into the death of South Cerney man Max Hartshorne, who is thought to have died in a hit-and-run.
The 24-year-old, who has not yet been formally identified, was walking along the B4696 Spine Road close to the crossroads with Broadway Lane and Wickwater Lane at around 12.30am on Sunday when it is thought he was hit by a car and suffered fatal injuries.
Detective Inspector Ruth Mather is investigating the incident and said officers had spoken to a number of witnesses and drivers who were in the area at the time.
“Having reviewed the information we have gathered so far we are keeping an open mind as to whether this man was struck by one or two vehicles," she said. “We are still exploring the possibility of whether a second vehicle was involved and failed to stop.
"We are continuing to gather information and are carrying out forensic tests to help establish the exact sequence of events that lead to this tragic incident.”
Earlier it was announced that a 50-year-old Malmesbury man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
Gloucestershire Coroner’s Court said formal identification was likely to take place on Tuesday or Wendesday.
Anyone with any information is asked to call Gloucestershire police on 101, quoting incident 27 of August 19.
