A CIRENCESTER man has died after driving off a bridge over the A429 dual carriageway.
The 26-year-old man and a female passenger suffered critical injuries when their car crash-landed on its roof after veering off the bridge, near the Golden Farm Inn, at 6.15pm on Friday.
The male driver, who has not yet been identified, was taken by Wiltshire Air Ambulance to John Radcliffe hospital soon after the crash.
He died from multiple injuries this afternoon (Saturday, July 28).
A 25-year-old woman was cut free from the upturned crushed vehicle by Cirencester fire crews and was rushed to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital by the Great Western Ambulance Service.
The local woman has since been transferred to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol and has suffered fractures to her pelvis and spine, but is believed to be stable.
The crash narrowly missed rush hour and no other vehicles are reported to have been damaged or involved in the incident.
The A429 Swindon Road was closed off in both directions until 1.30am today, from the Grove Lane junction to the Bristol Road junction. The road is now open.
A police investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
