A PUB in Quenington, near Fairford, has been crowned winner of the most recent Channel Four series of Four in a Bed.
The Keepers Arms, run by Jon Gardiner and Michelle Bond, took the top prize in the popular TV show, beating a glamping site in Loch Ness, a Scottish B&B and a pub in Lancashire.
Four in a Bed sees four separate B&B owners taking turns to stay with each other. They then pay what they think the trip deserves.
Jon and Michelle, who took over the Quenington pub in 2007, said the experience was interesting and eye-opening for them both.
“We not only got to compare ourselves to other establishments and see how others run similar businesses to our own, we also got to meet some great people," said Jon. "And, as local viewers will see if they watch the show, taking part was not without its drama and tears.”
The couple filmed the episodes last summer but they have only just been aired on Channel Four. Locals turned out on the night of the shows to support their pub landlords, and Quenington residents were delighted when Jon and Michelle took first prize.
Local fans of the show said that one of Jon’s scenes, which was filmed in the shower at the glamping site in Loch Ness, will be a talking point for years to come!
The Keepers Arms, in Church Road, was rewarded for its traditional home cooked pub food, its elegant room decor and the landlords' chatty and friendly welcome.
