A WORLD War Two explosive has been found on a building site in Birdlip.
The item, believed to be an AW bomb from World War 2, was discovered by staff working at the building site at approximately 1.45pm this afternoon when the item burst into flames. Nobody was injured.
The road has been closed shortly before the Royal George Public House and will remain closed whilst a bomb disposal unit attend to ensure the area is safe.
The building crew have been evacuated from the site.
Motorists and local residents are thanked for their patience whilst the road is closed and the area made safe.
