AN ARSON investigation was launched after firefighters tackled a blaze at a derelict building in South Gloucestershire earlier today.
Crews were called to a fire at an old factory in Moravian Road, Kingswood at 5.45am today, Tuesday, May 7.
A spokesperson from Avon Fire and Rescue service said: “Crews from Kingswood, Temple, Hicks Gate, Southmead, Bedminster and Portishead attended.
“On arrival, crews found a fire in a derelict building.
“With six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus, crews used multiple jets to extinguish the fire.
“The cause of the incident is thought to have been deliberate ignition.
“The incident was left in the hands of police colleagues.”
A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police previously said they believe the fire was started accidentally.
However, officers have now stated no confirmation of cause has yet been "determined".
They said: "We were called by the fire service at 6.10am this morning to a report of a fire in a property in Wood Road, Kingswood.
"Road closures were put in place to allow the fire service to tackle the fire and these have since been lifted.
"Enquiries are ongoing."
