A MAN was arrested following two reports of assaults in Cirencester's town centre. 

Police were called to reports of a fight involving several people outside a licensed premises in Castle Street, Cirencester at around 9pm on Monday, April 22. 

Two victims were punched in the head and back and a purse was stolen during the incident.

The purse was recovered in the Brewery Car Park later on with cash missing. 

Police have urged anyone who saw someone acting suspiciously in the car park during this time frame to get in touch.

A short time later, at around 9.20pm, police were called to another assault in Gloucester Street - between the junctions with Spitalgate Lane and Barton Lane - in Cirencester.

A 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault and was taken to Compass House Police Station in Quedgeley.

The suspect was interviewed about both incidents yesterday, Tuesday, April 23.

He has since been released on bail with the condition not to contact the victims and witnesses who have come forward.

In addition, a curfew has been imposed which requires him to stay at his home address between 7pm and 7am everyday.

Officers have secured statements from various witnesses but are still looking to speak to other potential victims and witnesses who are yet to come forward. 

They would also like to hear from anyone in the area who may have relevant CCTV footage.
