A TRAIL hunting group in Wiltshire has raised thousands of pounds for charity after a member received a life-changing diagnosis.
The Duke of Beaufort Hunt, which is based in Badminton, has raised more than £14,000 for various charities throughout the year but decided to support the Motor Neurone Disease Association following the diagnosis of one of its long-standing supporters, Frank Collingborn.
The hunt's annual charity meet in January raised more than £3,000 for the association which focuses on improving access to care, research and campaigning for those people living with or affected by motor neurone disease in England.
Frank’s daughter Joanna Bastable, who now helps to care for her father, said: “My father has been a great supporter and regular follower of the Beaufort Hunt for many years and was sadly recently diagnosed with motor neurone disease.
"It is a horrible disease, so it is really touching that the hunt has chosen to support the Motor Neurone Disease Association this year, who have been a great support to my father and our family.”
Matt Ramsden, master and huntsman of the Duke of Beaufort Hunt, said: “We are very proud to raise money for charity every year through our specific events.
"We were so sorry to hear about Frank’s diagnosis, so we wanted to make sure we did everything we could to raise money and awareness for motor neurone disease this year.”
